13/11/2017 – Do you suffer from poor hot water flow from your taps? Do you know what an unvented hot water cylinder is?
An unvented hot water cylinder works by storing hot water at mains pressure in a cylinder so when a hot tap is used the hot water will be delivered at mains pressure.
This means that an unvented hot water cylinder can supply more than one outlet at once.
To cope with the mains water pressure, unvented cylinders have to be much stronger than the standard open vent cylinders.
Also, because hot water is locked in at the mains pressure there are safety devices fitted to prevent the cylinder from exploding should the pressure get too high, either because the mains pressure itself is too high or because the water gets too hot, expands and turns to steam.
Our highly qualified SHAPE Contractor engineers recommend that unvented hot water cylinders are serviced once a year. We can assist you with this and they can be serviced at the same time as your house boiler. This keeps the cost down.
